The type was set, the ink was mixed
This zine is built with Astro — static pages, almost no
JavaScript, nothing rendered on your machine that could have been printed in advance. Posts
are plain MDX files in a git repository, edited through
Keystatic when the maker is feeling civilised and
through a text editor when not.
The two inks are violet and cadmium — opposite on the colour wheel, and between them they spell the maker's two names: Violet Noise, who makes the music, and Cadmium, who plays the fighting games. The grain, the halftone, and the misregistration are all done live in your browser with SVG filters and blend modes; nothing is a photograph of paper. It is a drawing of a riso print that happens to be a website.
The faces: Bodoni Moda for the decaying grandeur, Spectral for the reading, Space Mono for the marginalia and the frame data. All self-hosted; your visit phones no foundry.
No analytics, no comments, no algorithm. There is an RSS feed, and that is the entire distribution strategy.
